It is with deep regret and sadness that ASL announces the passing of founding member Professor Hussein Zbib on February 10, 2020 in Pullman, Washington at the age of 61.
Professor Zbib made invaluable contributions to the field of thermo-mechanical behavior and properties of solids. He worked tirelessly to set the nascent academy on a path of growth and excellence, starting with the ASL first meeting in Paris in 2008. He served effectively as the ASL’s first treasurer, and made valuable contributions through his service on the academy's fund raising and nomination-election committees. With his outstanding scholarship, dedication to teaching and service, he exemplified the best of Lebanon’s sons in the diaspora.
